Advancing the National Social Impact Action Plan (NSIAP) and Building Momentum Towards NSILS 2.0
Following the successful hosting of the inaugural National Social Impact Leaders’ Summit (NSILS 1.0), the Marcus Odianose Ughulu Foundation for Peace and Sustainable Development (MOUFPSD), through the NSIL Secretariat, has remained committed to translating the resolutions of the Summit into measurable actions under the National Social Impact Action Plan (NSIAP) 2026–2028.
Over the past several months, we have strengthened institutional relationships, initiated strategic partnerships, expanded our climate action engagements, and deepened collaboration with security and correctional institutions. These milestones reflect our collective commitment to transforming dialogue into sustainable national impact.
1. Institutional Engagements and Strategic Partnerships To advance the implementation of the NSIAP, the Secretariat has undertaken several high-level engagements with government institutions, development partners, and strategic stakeholders.
Formal Recognitions and Partnership Outcomes
The following institutional recognitions and partnership milestones have been achieved:
1. Official Letter of Recognition and Acknowledgement from the Nigerian Navy.
2. Formal acknowledgement from the European Union Delegation to Nigeria.
3. Official Letter of Partnership from the National Orientation Agency (NOA) following a successful strategic engagement.
4. Strengthened collaboration with several public institutions committed to supporting youth development, peacebuilding, and national cohesion.
High-Level Consultative Meetings
Strategic meetings have been held with:
1. Nigerian Army
2. National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)
3. National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA)
4. Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR)
These engagements focused on institutional collaboration, implementation of the NSIAP, youth empowerment, civic participation, peacebuilding initiatives, and joint programming leading to NSILS 2.0.
2. Climate Action and Environmental Sustainability Partnerships
Recognising climate change as both an environmental and peacebuilding challenge, the Secretariat has significantly expanded its climate engagement portfolio in line with Pillar Three of the NSIAP: Sustainable Development and Climate Action.
Key achievements include:
1. Participation in national and international climate policy and leadership programmes.
2. Submission of climate innovation and sustainability proposals to various international partners.
3. Expansion of partnerships focused on climate resilience, environmental sustainability, youth-led climate innovation, and green entrepreneurship.
4. Promotion of climate peace initiatives that recognise the relationship between environmental degradation, resource-based conflicts, and sustainable livelihoods.
These engagements are laying the foundation for stronger climate-focused programming during NSILS 2.0.
3. Nigerian Correctional Service Collaboration
One of the significant post-summit milestones has been strengthening collaboration with the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS). Following discussions initiated during NSILS 1.0, the Secretariat conducted a strategic engagement and facility visit with senior officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service to explore opportunities for long-term collaboration.
Key discussion areas included:
1. Rehabilitation and reintegration of young offenders.
2. Skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development.
3. Peace education and restorative justice.
4. Mental health and psychosocial support.
5. Climate-smart agriculture and sustainable livelihood initiatives within correctional facilities.
6. Youth mentorship and post-release empowerment programmes.
The engagement reaffirmed the shared commitment of both institutions to reducing recidivism through rehabilitation, skills development, and sustainable reintegration.
4. NSIAP Dissemination and Proposal Submissions
To broaden national ownership of the NSIAP, implementation proposals and partnership requests have been submitted to several strategic institutions, including: Federal Security and Law Enforcement Agencies

4. Germany Embassy These engagements are intended to mainstream the NSIAP across multiple sectors and encourage collaborative implementation nationwide.
5. Planning for NSILS 2.0
Building upon the achievements recorded after NSILS 1.0, preparations have officially commenced for National Social Impact Leaders’ Summit (NSILS 2.0).
The second edition will focus on:
a. Expanding multi-sector partnerships.
b. Strengthening implementation accountability.
c. Showcasing measurable NSIAP achievements.
d. Scaling youth leadership and peacebuilding initiatives.
e. Advancing climate action and environmental sustainability.
f. Deepening collaboration with security institutions, correctional services, academia, development partners, and the private sector.
g. Mobilising greater national and international support for youth-led social innovation.
NSILS 2.0 will serve as a national platform for reviewing progress, sharing best practices, launching new partnerships, and accelerating implementation of the NSIAP.

As we continue this journey, we invite every member of the NSIL community to remain actively engaged. We encourage our partners to:

Together, we are demonstrating that the National Social Impact Leaders’ Summit is not merely an annual event; it is a growing national movement dedicated to building a peaceful, inclusive, climate-resilient, and prosperous Nigeria. We sincerely appreciate the commitment and support of every partner who has contributed to this journey thus far and look forward to achieving even greater impact through NSILS 2.0.
